We are seeking funding for the final stages of the new Chandler’s Ford Girlguiding Centre. The outside space is in desperate need of upgrading to be in keeping with the new Centre. The storage garage which is used for essential camping equipment contains asbestos and is falling down. This is not safe for the girls to enter and the tents are being eaten by mice! We have obtained planning permission to demolish and rebuild a new storage building with a cooking shelter at the back for the girls to use in all weathers. The garden area also needs to be cleared of brambles and rubble which is preventing the girls enjoying the outside space. We have also planned for a patio area with ramp to access the garden and raised planters for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides to garden and nurture plants. We also would like to camp in the garden which is not possible at this present time due to the unkempt garden area.
We would use the money to create a safe space for the girls to enjoy outside activities, to provide disabled access to the centre, and to re-energise the garden for all to use.
The new Centre is already regularly used by 350 people per week and is open to other groups in the Community. We hope that the Centre will be able to provide many years of fun and motivation to Girls in the Hampshire area in the next 100 years, so it could be used by half a million people in total!
